Norton Internet Security 2009 upgrade installation continually sends me through this cycle where it says it could not download a specific file during installation, instructs me to download this SymFix_1002-1.exe file and run it, which I do. A DOS window briefly appears and goes away and then I’m instructed to restart the computer.
I restart the computer and the same thing happens. It endlessly sends me through this same cycle and the Norton product does not work and has the red x on it. Any ideas?
Update: I tried uninstalling Norton and it has an error during uninstall. So I can't install it or uninstall it. This is getting worse. Sounds like a complete OS reinstall in the making, but I really really really want to avoid that.

Get rid of it,Norton is a pain in the neck, it takes up too much memory, and slows down the comp.
