when I open a game, it only uses up two thirds of the screen instead of going full screen. I just got a new computer and I'm not used to vista yet.

Originally this happened in Maple Story (it had some compatibility issues but my boyfriend has the same game on vista and it works fine for him. I fiddled around with things and figured out that its showing up at 800×600 instead of 1280×800 but I haven't figured out how to change it. It doesn't have a compatibility option under properties, but two of my other games did. Any suggestions?

First of all, you should really revert back to XP.
Second of all, I don't know why people come onto a question and answer "I don't know"…

You need to check the games options.. its not Vista, its your game settings. Hope that helps!

Usually in the game options..like world of warcraft for example, there will be a video option and then enable/disable full screen mode.

There might be many things that gives you this result. There are 2 things i do when i have this problem.
The first thing i would do is right click the icon of your game, go to properties>compatibility> and check run in compatibility mode. Select Windows XP SP2 from the drop down menu.
The next thing to do is make sure that the resolution in the game is the same as your desktop reolution. right click your desktop and clicked personalize and click display settings to check your current resolution. Keep note of that resolution. Then go into your game settings and go to the display, or video options and chose the resolution that matches your computers. Also, look for a windscreen box and check it if necessary. if this still dose not work, when in game, press alt+enter, this puts your screen into full screen mode, but i don't think this is your problem since you said it takes 2/3 of your screen.
Hope this helps
BTW, what game is this?
