I can’t do ANYTHING in my computer, not even access the repair tool in my reinstallation Windows XP CD. The blue screen is preventing me with problems and not allowing me to get past it, not even in safe mode.
I posted a question earlier with this detalied problem:I downloaded the latest Windows Updates and installed them last night. This evening I restarted my computer (it had been in hibration mode since the installation). After restarting I received a blue screen which instructed me to try and restart my computer and go in through safe mode. It had this technical information: STOP 0×000000FC (0cF7AAD8E8, 0×0742B963, 0xF7AAD848, 0×00000001). So, I restarted my computer and entered in through safe mode, after running all kinds of numbers and letters another blue screen appeared with this technical information: STOP 0×0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF7AFB8EB, 0xF7AFB7F4, 0xf7AFB4F0). I’ve tried several times restarting my computer and starting up Windows Normally or in Safe Mode ending up with the above blue screens and technical information. I am now on my mother’s computer. Please help if you can or any advice would be greatly appreciated. If you could even point me in the right direction that’d be wonderful. Thank you SO much!
Not sure if it matters, but I have a Dell XPS 400 Desktop purchased in 2006.
I don’t know what to do next. Do I have to take it to someone to get repaired? What else can I try myself? Thanks!
All I have is a reinstallation CD and I've tried putting that in the tower and nothing happens.
When going through safe mode it DID say something about BIOS in the message.
How may I get a reformat disc?

do you have a reformat disc that came with the computer ?
if you do you can redo your whole operating system just put it in the cd rom drive and it should start automatically
this action deletes everything on your computer but your windows should work after you are threw

The “STOP 0×0000007E” from your BSOD or “Blue Screen of Death” means that you are unable to access your bootable device (hard drive) your issue may not necessarily be an operating system issue but rather a bad hard drive … I would purchase a new hard drive (they are at a very reasonable price these days just make sure you consult the manufacturer to buy the right model, format and capacity suported by your machine) and start from scratch since you seem to have inconsistencies issues with the performance of your machine ….. I hope this helps

i think this is a case when your bios is corrupted. IF i am right then there is nothing you can do, but take it to the repair shop. Although try this first, put the original Windows disk in the drive whilst tuning on the comp. It should come up as to install windows Xp press yes and follow the steps. THis will format your system and you cannot retrieve any data from it.
