A few months ago, I bought a Dell Inspiron 530 computer with Vista pre-installed. I’m having several issues with Vista and I want to reformat my computer and install XP. The problem is that I’m afraid that I may end up with a crippled PC because of driver and hardware issues. Is installing XP over Vista dangerous or is it easy?
Also, for those of you that own Dell Inspiron 530 and reformatted it with XP, did you have any problems or did everything go smoothly?

It is a shame you were stuck with Vista. There are many downgrade software options out their for sale you can buy. An easy way would be to borrow someones XP cd, reformat your hard drive during the installation and install XP. Vista computers can easily run XP because they are built powerful to deal with crappy VISTA

Did you buy your dell with an XP rollback disk? If not you can probably get one from dell. That would be the easiest way to do it. Otherwise its not terribly hard, you will just have to spend some time on dells’ support site to find the xp drivers for your PC.

First I wont recommend you to switch to XP from Vista, Where Vista Is glowing enough that XP. Even Microsoft Stopped XP.
If you like to install Only XP its not a PROB you can go with it, But before that download XP drivers for your model using the serial number.
If you think to install XP in your Pre installed Vista that is not possible. Microsoft will not allow you to Degrade…….
But Nothing is impossible. There are some third party tools which allow you to install both OS (VISTA + XP).
I don’t know where it is right or wrong to post this reply with the following link.

U can do so. But first go to dell site and search for available drivers. If drivers are not available then only god can help u.In some PC(preinstalled vista)it is very difficult to install XP only because they does not support XP.HP pcs are now came with vista pre build where it is diffult to install xp other then those with Free DOS.Drivers are not available. I love XP.
