My computer seems to have been hijacked by a virus. Won't bore you with the details. Even Norton antivirus seems to be affected.
Norton Live Help remote controlled my computer yesterday and everything seemed to be fine but later in the day, a red X showed up on my Norton icon.
After emailing Norton, they suggested I remove the antivirus program & reinstall it.
It's been uninstalling for over 3 hours now & I'm wondering if this is normal. I think I better switch to Kaspersky.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes, I am using the link that Norton provided to uninstall it.
Thanks.

Should only take at the most 15 minutes. Did you use the removal tool?

It should uninstall in less than 10 seconds.
First do an online scan and clean with http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html AND http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
Now it's time to replace that miserable insecurity software that you use; download the installers for
browser - http://www.opera.com/ - use this instead that malware magnet IE
antivirus - http://www.avast.com/
antispyware - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en/
…………….. - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
firewall - http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ - only if you really need it, the Windows one is good enough on a clean, well protected pc.
maintenance - http://www.iobit.com/ (they are all the best in their category and FREE) and the official uninstaller http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Uninstall the junk, install the new ones (if necessary in safe mode) one by one with each necessary reboot done and update them (Spybot has it manual).
That's all. Now admire how fast and safe your pc is (only if you never use IE again).

That is the very reason I do NOT use Norton and uninstalled the "trial version" as soon as I got my computer hooked up. There is no reason it would take 3 hours. There is something wrong with the Norton software itself.
