A tracking cookie isn't much to worry about as long as you're cleaning them up. They get put on your computer by some sites to track your browsing habits. This could eventually lead to pop up advertisements on your computer.
The cookies will not harm files on your computer.
With that being said, you should always backup your files. With the cost of external harddrives reaching below 100.00, anyone can setup a quick backup system.

download spware doctor trial version and scan the pc, after scanning you will be able to view the location of the infected file, write them in paper (full path).
insert win xp bootable cd and boot then go to recovery console and delete those file………after restarting your pc is clean….
