how to change the appearance of firefox toolbar?

I want to reduce the size of the address box as it currently takes up about 2/3 of the width of the page. I want to remove the search engine box as I have Yahoo tool bar installed. I want to remove a Yahoo button from the toolbar for the same reason. I want to add the duplicate tab button which is available in _toolbar customize_ but there is not any available blank space in the toolbar
