Erm, this is a rather urgent question so i would greatly appreciate a quick reply,
This morning i woke up and turned on my computer, to find that it wont boot past the Windows XP loading screen, instead it just crashes out with a ‘Blue Screen of Death’, i have tried to use safe modes and booting and re-booting and have done over 100 times now. I currently haven’t made it to my desktop in over a day.
The only current solution that i can think of is either reinstalling Windows or trying to use the ‘repair’ utility on the Windows disk, but either of those procedures need me to have access to my desktop, so i am wondering how can i create MYSELF a Windows setup boot disk, i have a spare computer (as i am writing this on it) but i need that computer because of work documents on it, so i have no problem with needing to burn disks and such, i already have obtained an ISO image of windows xp, but i cannot get the setup to auto run on boot.
Sorry this is a big lump of over complicated text, but it is a big complicated problem and my english skills are’nt playing much as i have been awake for 23 hours now trying to fix this problem,
I am open to other solutions but loosing the data on my Hard Disk isnt acceptable so formatting wont help, and i can’t open the computer in any way
and for those who want to know i have already looked at the windows site and i know about the 6 floppy disks that you can create and use, but neither of my computers have floppy drives so that is of no use to me,
all help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
To macman3,
Thanks but that didnt realy help, windows cds dont boot for some reason i have tryed both my origonal version of windows and a burnt image/copy of windows and neither booted straight into setup.
they both said no boot record found,
any sugesions ?
I CANNOT GET TO MY DESKTOP, there is no way of me getting to my desktop, so i cannot undo minor settings or anything because i crashes even before windows starts to load
and i cant remember what i may have done to it
all i need is to make my disk boot to run the repair utility
i am absolutely cluleless now
got it i just needed to restart my computer with the disk in the drive now i feel like a n00b
thanks allot for the help question solved

a windows bootup disk is a floppy disk !!!
to re-install windows or to repair an already installed windows via the winxp cd …. u do not need to start either of them through the OS itself. I mean u just simply boot from the cd-rom !!!
and by choosing the repair it instead of a fresh install, u wont lose ur documents !!!
good luck ~~~ yo !!!

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

you do not need to get into the desktop to use the windows disc, put the disc into the drive and then turn the pc off with the disc in the drive, turn the pc back on with the disc already in and it should say press any key to boot from disc, press a key and it will start loading the cd into the pc, when that is done you can either select to do a fresh install of windows or use the repair option to repair your windows, i would suggest a fresh install making sure you format the c partition on the hard drive. all the options and instructions will come up on screen. if it does not say to press any key to boot from disc you will need to go into bios and set the cd rom as first boot device and hard drive as second in the boot order, save and exit bios and do it all again

Blue Screen of Death
The Blue Screen of Death (sometimes called “bluescreen”, “stop error” or just abbreviated as “BSOD”) is the popular name for the screen displayed by Microsoft’s Windows operating system when it cannot recover from, or is in danger of being unable to recover from, a system error (the Microsoft term is Stop error). There are two Windows error screens that are both referred to as the blue screen of death, with one (Windows NT 4/2000/XP/Vista) being significantly more serious than the other (Windows 9x). There are several causes of the blue screen popping up. It can be a poorly-written device driver, bad memory, damaged registry or usage of incompatible versions of DLLs (see more on the “Types of blue screens” section).
The blue screen of death in one form or another has been present in all Windows operating systems since Windows version 3.1. It is the successor of the less well-known black screen of death that occurs in OS/2 as well as MS-DOS[1]. In early builds of Windows Vista it was complemented with a red screen of death, used for boot loader errors.
Blue Screen of Death

Abbreviated BSOD, an error that can appear on computers running in a Windows environment. This includes even the earliest versions of Windows, such as Windows 3.0 and 3.1, and still occurs in later versions such as Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000. Jokingly called the blue screen of death because when the error occurs, the screen turns blue, and the computer almost always freezes and requires rebooting.
