how to disable Mcafee virusscan v.4.5.1 to get service pack 3?

January 2nd, 2009 · 2 Comments

Hey Everyone,

Well i have been trying for days to install service pack 3 correctly without any errors. An well this is my 3rd day now and i am back to service pack 2 once again. Any who i was able to get service pack 3 to install but then i started getting 2 errors one is "the instruction at 0×77c2a629 referenced memory at 0xc0000128. the memory could not be written." When i looked up the error it said it was with mcafee an said basically the only way to resolve the error was to reinstall mcafee. The other error i got said when i looked it up online that it was either a) a virus or b) an application error. so i am assuming the problem is with mcafee and how i left mcafee running when i was installing service pack 3. But anyway i was wondering how to disable mcafee so i could get the update? i have tried a few ideas but i am not sure if it is actually still running or not since i am not use to using mcafee. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you,
Rach

You can't download two virus scans on one computer. One of them will pick it up and consider it to be a virus. My suggestions to you would be to remove both programs and then reinstall Mcafee. You want to make sure you have disconnected your computer from the internet before doing this to make your computer safe. Good luck!
