how to format windows vista without using any installation CD or DVD or recovery disk?

August 30th, 2008 · 2 Comments

My laptop is compaq presarior C700. This is a first hand laptop. When i bought it, it came with a disk that in the user guide that say it is a recovery disk. But the recovery disk does not work as i use the another computer to open the disk. There is nothing in the disk like a file or folder. I wish to format my laptop coz it is full of virus. pls help me to solve this. i appreciate it very much. Thanks very much.

As far as I know, recovery disks are only tailored for the specific device it is intended for. Mainly an OEM (one machine) OS (operating system) with device specific drivers, etc. Recovery disks are generally a boot disk. Insert the recovery disk in and reboot your system.

If for some reason, the files are corrupted, you’ll need to either contact the manufacturer for another recovery disk or get your hands on a full OS. You can probably look up Linux (freeware/open source OS) and use that to format and install onto the laptop.
