Ok I have an anti-spyware that give me fake threats and wants me to purchase this one product. I know its a virus. I look at some of the similar question and took their advance. I currently have Ad-Adware 2007, and Windows Defender. When i scan my computer using either one i find serious viruses and delete them. As soon as i'm done the fake threats continue. Its really annoying and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. I know there is a way you can manually get rid of it but i'm not sure how. I went to control panel, add or remove programs and deleted the anti-spyware but its keep coming back. What do i do now. Thanks!!

Ad-ware contains built in spy ware! I used to use it until I used another program that found spy ware built into it.
Windows Defender is not strong enough or scans the low level hardware to find issues. Most programs only look for .exe's
Best program
Zone Alarm (ZA)
Free Trial - Pro or Security Suite
http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/znalm/comparison.jsp
If you use it, you will want to get the 12 months of free updates. ZA has updates several times a week for anti-spyware, anti-virus periodically, and usually at least one major program update at least once a year.
You can buy it in the store too.
1. After download or dick install, unplug from the net.
2. Set security to your setting. I set high on everything and adjust it for specific sites.
3. Run the full anti-spyware/ anti-virus check BEFORE going on-line. You will want to isolate any issue away from an Internet connection. If problems found, delete or quarantine them.
4. Run again until clean.
5. On XP system, Run Reg Scrup to clean the garbage left in the registry.
6. Reboot.
7. Run scan one last time. If ok, connect to the net.
ZA can be set up (click) to scan low level files, hidden files, everything!
You have to adjust the basic settings much higher which can be some effort if you have never done this before. But after 8 years of using this and Norton I have found that Norton could not pick up spy ware like it says it does.
The basic set up is not that great. You have to adjust the setting up. if you are a techie you will love ZA. The ThreatFire notes Trend Micro's base setting - the advanced setting are very powerful tool. if hack attempt on your puter, ZA captures the IP, street address, related phone number at location, country, city, etc, everything, and you can click to report the attack.
Use the "low level scanning" feature in Zone Alarm to find spyware.
I would also use Firefox over Explorer due to most attacks are targets at Explorer.

Fav Firefox add ons without spyware built into them are:
FlashBlock v1.5 or greater
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
AdBlock Plus v. o.75 or greater
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=AdBlock+plus&cat=all
Both are free!
They are great ways to take out the annoying ads on the net!
To clean up garbage on your PC assuming you are running XP. This is a great free program I have been using since 2001 with no conflict issues. It does not work with MAC or Vista.

Another good and FREE program to have on your computer is Spybot 1.6 (new version)

Keep in mind that these free programs are not the end all be all protection. You need an active firewall, low level scanning anti-spyware, and an anti-virus. Windows firewall doesn't protect at all.
Using in combination can help.

I've had this problem with three computers at the same time in my office. trust me nothing worked for them this is the most harmful virus. with this virus you reach to a level that you can't do anything but booting the system to get all the way to windows, then you get absolutely nothing you can do.
deleting the spyware doesn't work. because it's not even a software. it's just a faked virus that makes you think it's an anti-virus program that tells you your computer is at risk.
well.. tip number one to prevent that from happening again
DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY ANTI-VIRUS ONLINE..
always purchase the original CD.
the only solution is to format the computer.
even trying to repair it (installing windows over windows by overwriting) doesn't work.
you have to do a complete format.. unfortunately

Download and run firefox to protect your computer from future spyware attacks and pop ups which are coming in through internet explorer (Trojan downloaders, win32 ).Browser attacks aren't easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn't exhibit many obvious warning signs

Is this thing called "XP Antivirus"?
If so, it is a scam.
Search your computer for a file named "XPA.exe"
Delete it.
It has nothing to do with Windows XP.
I would install something like Norton Internet Security 2008 or McAfee Internet Security.
These things only happen if you click on a free scan and have to buy the product to remove it, scammers.
