Depends on the laptop, but usually, you have a panel on the bottom/side of your laptop that you can unscrew and have direct access to your hard drive. Then you unscrew any retaining screws around your hard dive if you have them. It’s usually as simple as sliding the hard drive away from it’s motherboard connection and pulling it out. Then just put the new hard drive in place the same way the old one was.
If you meant an optical (cd/dvd) drive, this can be trickier. If you have a sliding switch on the bottom of your laptop that releases the drive, remove any screws on the bottom of the laptop that are holding the drive in (if you even have any) and slide the switch to unlatch the drive and just pull the drive out. If you don’t have a locking switch, then you will probably need to go as far as removing the whole outer casing from your laptop (this varies from laptop to laptop, so your best bet here is to google for a service manual for your particular laptop.)
