I am so frustrated! I am sending 3 pictures to my own Yahoo Mail address and to my friends’ as “JPG file Attachments”. I know that the photos are shown at the bottom of the e-mail but I was hoping to see larger images by opening each JPG file. When I click on “Download the file” it shows up as a Microsoft word doc that is a series of multiple letters, lines, dashes etc… Not the actual photos. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Is there a simple solution? Should I not be saving them as JPG files? Is there another way to open them up other than in Microsoft Word? I know nothing about encoding nor MIME… please save me from another two hours of this!

after you download or save the pictures from the mail attachments, do not open that photo in a Microsoft Word, instead, open it using the "Picture Viewer" or "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" or simply the "Paint" or the "Microsoft Office Picture Manager", etc BUT not the Microsoft Word as it is not a document.
edit: right click on the picture and click to open on those programs i mentioned above.
