I purchased several polo shirts at the Polo Ralph Lauren outlet store in Gilroy Premium Outlets, California when I was on vacation there last month. I didnt notice that one of them still had the security plastic anti theft thinggy on it til I got back to Manila, Philippines. Now I cant wear the shirt - how do I remove it? The Polo stores in Manila do not use the same security devices and are unable to remove it for me. Do you know any retail stores in Manila thats able to remove the device? I dont want to twist or force it off, it might leave a big hole on the shirt

I don't know how you can possibly remove it without using a kind of contraption but what I do know is that you better do it the right way otherwise you may end up not with a hole in your shirt but with a huge ink stain that won't come off anymore.
Let's hope it's not that kind of security device you have and I hope you'll find a solution to your problem.

I would try and bring the shirt back with your receipt to the polo store in Manilla and ask them to swap out the shirt for another as it was the stores error that they did not remove the tag
Good luck

Hehehe, I think you are not so honest as your question tries to lead us to believe…

I would not try to do it. I understand that the only way to remove it is with a device that is available only in Polo stores in the Philippines.
Besides leaving a hole on the garment, that device contains indelible ink that is designed to spill/explode onto the item or on you if you force it to unlock it improperly.

sorry dear you can't without boring the cloth…
consider this:
all items must pass cashiers( who has the removing device and do it only after payment and item scrutiny before packing it) moreover, you cannot leave the store with it as the alarm would go

Call the manufacturer. Say you and your Dad met with an accident on the road. That he is wearing the shirt, and the firemen need to get it off. But they need the code! So, please hurry and send the computer instructions on how to get the darned thing off. It's a matter of life and death!

I would rather toss it away and be done with it.

I don't know if the Polo device is similar with the device of the local brands like Penshoppe. Last year, I purchased a backpack from Penshoppe and they forgot to remove the device. It was even detected in their exits but sensing that I got kinda pissed, the cashier just signaled the guard to allow me to leave. I never thought removing that device would be such a big problem that I never bothered that they (Penshoppe) still remove it during that day. When I got home, I tried almost every tool to remove it to no avail until I tried the lighter. Yes, I burned the device using the lighter. Just be very careful not to damage the garment.

I don't think it is possible that the store in the US forgot to remove the anti-theft device. They would learned that they forgot to remove the device as soon as you leave the store because of the alarm. You steal it and you know it.

they have some sort of key to it. and yes if you rip it off itll create a huge hole. so uuhhh… but if you bring it to a shop, and have them remove it, here are some tips:
1.) bring the receipt of the shirt you bought. you dont want them suspecting you as a thief or something. filipinos are like that.
2.) if one store doesnt have the right key, try another one. hehe. stores should do it for free. its only a gesture of goodwill.
3.) uhh..yeah thats it.. only 2 tips. lol.
