How to remove viruses? (With AVG.)?

I have AVG, and I am a bit confused.

I scan my computer, it locates viruses. I’ve always understood this.

But my issue is, once the virus has been found, it is moved to the “virus vault.” Once in this vault, various things can be done to it. The options being Wipe, Heal, Restore object as, and such things.

Would “wipe” be the proper way to completely delete the infected files from my computer? If not, how is this done?
