My new computer has pre-installed Norton Internet Security 2009. I just installed the Avast Home Edition. After that, I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2009 and restarted the computer. Everything was fine.
The next day, when I turned on the computer, I was asked to update the window. After update, I restared the computer, it has a message "Can’t restart because of configuration error" and has the option "computer will check the error and fix it". I choose that option. Now, my computer works back. The problem is I see the Norton Internet Security 2009 back on my desktop and I can’t uninstall it. When I go to Control Panel, I don’t see Avast in Control Panel/ Program anymore, but Norton is in the list of Control Panel. When I click on Uninstall Norton, nothing happens.
I already tried to System Restore from the day before I installed the Avast. It’s still the same thing. Is it because I installed the Avast before uninstalled the Norton, now the system is messed up? Even I try to uninstall the Avast but Avast is not in Control Panel. How do I uninstall the Norton and Avast again? If you know how to fix it. Please help me. Thank you very much.

The easiest way to remove Norton is the norton removal tool, but if Norton gets stuck on your pc the only way is to reinstall windows. Good luck

Sad to say, Norton/Symantec has found the need to develop a tool that completely removes all their products from a computer.
Symantec Removal Tool (free):

Hope that helps.
