How to uninstall Vista SP1?

I bought Vista (Home Basic) SP1 (upgrade) a while back and installed it on my laptop. Ever since I put it on my laptop, I pretty much can’t use my laptop. It has ruined my laptop. I didn’t have time to try to fix it so I just set it to the side. Today I took it out and was messin with it trying to uninstall the upgrade. I have tried everything I know of and nothing has worked. Does anyone know how to uninstall it? I tried going on the Microsoft website and sending them an email or something but they needed a certain key from the product (not the product key) but ever since I installed the upgrade, it keeps telling me it’s not a legit copy. But I bought it from Walmart. I’ve re-entered the product key a million times and doesn’t change anything. And I’m not buying a new product key simply because I HATE Vista. With a passion. So does anyone know how I might be able to fix my laptop and uninstall it myself?
