June 22nd, 2009 · 5 Comments

Ok I have a virus on my laptop causing my computer to freeze and I cannot get a scan to run all the way through wiht out the computer locking up so I need to just wipe it out and reinstall it. now i have a couple of disks that came with my computer (A reinstallation DVD for Windows vista home basic, and the other disks are drivers and stuff) is there any way I cna use that to uninstall vista and reinstall it? if nothing else work could i remove the harddrvie (HDD) and hook it up to another computer as a slave drive, format that hardrive place it back in the laptop and install vista?
Im not able to run an antivirus scan on it because the computer freezes up. infact the computer wont even enter safe mode. a technition told me the computer is running fine and mostlikely it is a virus. And when I look for how to uninstall vista all i get is "use winXP disk bla bla bla" all im tryign to do is uninstall (partition the harddrive) and then renistall vista. So how to I boot by disk? AKA boot up the computer by using the Reinstallation DVD?
Ok thank you i just didnt know that the reinstallation dvd could delte it to

What has XP got to do with Vista? Just boot from disc.
Surely it's better to run some anti-virus/anti-spyware first?
Try some different programs if your one doesn't work.

      put the CD in
      press F12 after computer starts
you will get a prompt to press any key to boot from dvd…

Just put your installation disc then you will get the option for Repair,Fresh installation & Upgrade.
But formatting full HDD is a good idea for making your Lapy virus free & being sure about it

Previous OS installation can't be easily done.Like
      XP over Vista etc

hey hey ! why are you going to reinstallation or formatting , when you have a lots of other choices…. there a lot of bootable disks with loads of utilities in it … and you can get it from these :
http://minipe.org/ mini pe is the best bart cd ever
http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ it has almost all utilities needed for system rescue
      http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/
      http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
      http://www.askvg.com/download-free-bootable-rescue-cds-from-kaspersky-bitdefender-avira-f-secure-and-others/
i would suggest you to download bitdefender rescue cd , bcoz it can update if you have active connection ! ….even f secure is also a good choice …
so think twice before wasting your precious time !
definitely these cds would take the viruses out and you can start preventing them by using a better anti virus software …
