I am using an HP laptop and its running on the shitty vista and i might do a format soon. So i wanted to know which is better to use to recover all my installed softwares after formatting. Is it the HP recovery system or norton ghost?
Also, using HP recovery system (F11) will only restore the laptop to its factory settings and not like norton ghost?right?
Also if you have any other suggestions after answering my questions plz tell me.
P.S. I created recovery disks using HP recovery system when i first got the laptop but there wasnt any softwares installed at that time.

both norton ghost and hp recovery centers make an IMAGE of your hard drive as it is now. They can't install anything or place anything on your hard drive except the entire image with nothing else.
In layman's terms they make a photocopy of your hard drive, they don't just draw a new picture from scratch.
You will just have to reinstall everything by hand as the way you install things differs from XP to Vista and you can't just copy the program files.

please dont waste ur time with all those recovery software …
eventhough u back up ur installed programmes in vista
and after u restore em to win xp (after installing win xp)
they will never work not even 5% of em will work …
cuz vista use a different locations patchs and file systems
than xp … so restoring ur recoverd programmes of
vista to xp means u may damage ur file system of
windows xp and maybe u will corrupt files in it
and again u will have to install windows xp
eventhough u managed to run win xp with those
retored programmes it will get slow and give
sudden errors and big time problems …
just back up ur music video files to some dvds
but backing up installed programmes is a waste
of time …

what ur going to do now u may completley have to
re install xp again and again … so do a freash installtion
of xp just back up only the multimedia files
that u had like videos mp3 music and put em back
in xp but never put already vista installed programmes
in it … instead install all ur programmes that u want
newly to xp …
