But, nothing else happens. The message don’t go away. I wait for hours and finally shut the computer down. This happens on both of my computers.

Trying downloading the updates directly from the internet at this address: http://lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/

The icon is in the top-right corner of the blog (underneath where the black header ends). Pick the version that you’re using (likely the ‘SE’ version).

You will download a file likely called ‘refs.zip’. Extract this .ZIP using Windows XP’s built-in extractor (or WinZip or WinRar on Windows 98 or earlier). It should extract a file called defs.ref.

Copy defs.ref to your C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Professional folder, overwriting the old file.

      Quick Summary:

      1) Download the newest definition file at: http://www.lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/

      2) Extract the .zip file you download

      3) put the new .ref file into C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE and overwrite the old file.

      Hope this helps!
