I am trying to Uninstall Yahoo Messenger, so I can Install a newer Version …?

I try to Delete Yahoo Messenger and I received this message:

Could Not Open
INSTALL.LOG FILE.

From what I know to switch versions u you have to completely Uninstall Messenger .
Or do I need to delete all of yahoo … ?
