I cannot get Avg 8.0 to do automatic updates. Need help?

I have AVG Anti-Virus 8.0, it is full version, and I keep trying to use the update manager. Avg says "It's active." But I double-click it, and at the bottom I try to use Update Manager settings. I check the Start automatic updates box, and fill in my settings. I think click the save changes box, and proceed to the overview page. I go back to the updater manager, an my settings are not there.

I also tried to go to -tools -advanced settings, but then I get 2 error messages, one has to do with schedules, I don't know..
Please help! Thank-you.
