my mcafee antivirus cannot be uninstalled due to a problem with the uninstaller. It cant likewise download from the web the installer to reinstall the program

Go to the add/delete programs feature and delete it.

Hello,
So you already went into Control Panel > Add/remove programs to uninstall the program from there, but you didn't find anything…
The first simple solution is to reinstall the program again (crushing the old files), restart the computer, and re-attempt to uninstall from the control panel when the registry entries are supposedly repaired by the reinstall process.
If you still can't uninstall or if for any reason it won't reinstall over the old and faulty installation, you might want to look at some freeware programs that can "clean up" for you. The best one I know for this is CCleaner (google it up!), it will remove invalid registry entries left by programs and failed uninstalls. Run it, and see if it's good enough.
If now it still goes wrong, you might want to complain to McAfee's customer service.

i recommend contacting mcafee support at http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php
mcafee is a pesky program to deal with and you can mess it up easily so i strongly recommend asking help at their official forum.
