I deleted Norton, and windows has screwed me over….

August 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

I deleted norton because it uses up too much RAM, but I thought it would make sense to save a restore point, which I did. A little later i restarted my laptop, because my sound wasn’t working, and a game crashed. After I restarted, the icons on my desktop and the taskbar disappeared every 2 mins. So I restarted again. The problem kept on happening. So I opened system restore, and guess what. MY SYSTEM RESTORE POINT WASN’T THERE. So what’s the point in having system restore points if they will friggin disappear. Is it possible I got a virus right after deleting Norton? I would just transfer all the important stuff to my external hard drive and use the Vaio restore thing (I hav a Sony Vaio Laptop, FJ270), but, I can’t open the start menu, no icons, and i can’t even open Run. I can only open task manager and the stuff from my 2 shortcut keys (firefox and itunes >.>). I’m going to experiment with new task to see wat i can do. Does anyone have any pointers? thanks.

      Press:
      Windows key + E
Copy over your stuff to the hard-drive.

Could be a virus, but not certain, may also be a system file which is missing.

Have you tried to undelete the deleted files? They might still be able to be recovered.
