I had 5 or 6 spyware problems on my computer according to my up-to-date Spybot Search & Destroy. Spybot was unable to remove it from the computer since some of the programs were using active memory. Well, I figured the best way to bypass this would be to run Spybot with the computer in Safe Mode. The problems were removed successfully.
However, when I started my computer back on, I tried logging in my main user account and it showed only the background picture before Microsoft saved my changes and logged me out automatically. I tried the same thing with my administrative account. No such luck. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks

There are several possible reasons for this behavior….
There may be cross-linked files. Boot to safe mode and then run
chkdsk c: /r
it may take 30 minutes or more, so be patient.
The spyware may have infected critical files in Windows. Spybot removed the infected file and now your computer doesn't boot. You can attempt to copy the missing files from your Windows O/S CD. Dial-a-fix can help you to do this.
NOTE: at this time, Dial-a-fix does not work on Vista
Download it from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.html
copy it onto your (dead) computer and boot into safe mode.
Run Dial-a-fix. Click on the hammer button, scroll down to SFC purge and do that. Then run the SFC scan. You will need your Windows CD for this. It will copy a boatload of critial files from you CD to your hard drive.
Another solution would be to do a Windows Repair Install. (Note: Toshiba computers do not allow you to do this. They only allow you to restore everything to the condition you bought it. Sorry.) Here are a couple of sites that walk you through the process.

Another possibility is that there is still some infections on your computer. I would run a few more scans to rule this out.
Visit http://www.majorgeeks.com
Download, install and run the following:
(drive cleaner)
ccleaner slim (removes junk and temp files so that the scans have fewer files to look through)
(anti-virus) Pick one, some infections disable cleaning programs, so try another until you can start removing the infections.
AVG
AntiVIr
Avast
(anti-spyware)
ad-aware 2007 or 2008
counterspy
AVG anti-spyware
AVG anti-rootkit
superantispyware
Malwarebytes Rouge Remover
Malwarebytes antispyware
spyware doctor starter edition
Another good utility is Comofix. It removes some spyware and fixes some of the files and settings that spyware commonly messes up.
Download and run combofix

Good luck.
