I Detected a Trojan in Cheat Engine 5.3; I Didn’t Detect One In 5.4. Is It Safe?

July 28th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I downloaded Cheat Engine 5.3 a while ago; just to check to see if there were any Trojans like I'd heard from one person.
I scanned it: Trojan Found.

A while later (today), I downloaded Cheat Engine 5.4 to check for Trojans.
I scanned it: Safe File.

A while ago, I had a Trojan on my system…I uninstalled the program it was on, and the Trojan disappeared.

I'm afraid that while the Trojan was on my computer, it may have tampered with my Antivirus program. But the other day, it found malware on a website that I opened. It comes with Internet security, too.

Should I open Cheat Engine? For anyone who has scanned Cheat Engine 5.4, please answer this question!

If it helps, I have Avast! Antivirus Home Edition 4.8.
I also heard that after the program is installed, the Trojan is installed because Cheat Engine is embedded into the internal files of your computer. Is this true?

OK first of all Cheat Engine has no virus, the only reason you detected a virus is because your perhaps not using AVG 8.0 which i use, some Anti viruses mistaken the Trojan but it is NOT a virus i checked using AVG it says no virus it’s PERFECTLY safe to use it, apparently MOST anti viruses mistaken it so it’s safe no worries! i scanned it myself too!
