I do I get my 2006 NSW to recognize my 2009 Antivirus software?

I installed new 2009 Norton Anitivirus from a disk. It automatically un-installed my Antivirus that was with my 2006 Norton System Works. Now my NSW Protection Center says I am without virus protection. It’s not recognizing that I have the new software even after making sure everything was updated. BUT, when I did a “One Button Checkup” through NSW it showed I needed a virus scan. When clicked the scan button through NSW it went straight to the new 2009 Anitvirus and did the scan. How do I get the NSW Protection software to see that I have the new antivirus software?
