I fell victim to an auto refinancing phishing email today and the information they got was: my ssn/dob/address/phone number and make/model/year of my vehicle and the lienholder and monthly payment amount on my vehicle(no bank or credit card account numbers at all though). Just in case I have called my bank and got password protection on my account and I changed all my security questions on my credit card accounts….I realize that this person(when I checked the IP address on WHOIS it said it was from Romania) could still use my info to create new accounts but how do I dispute those if I do find any on my credit report? Also, should I be worried that such a person would use my information to personally track me down to my address to harm me? What should I do if they use my info to fake a passport? Someone help please!

it looks like you have your credit card and bank covered.
i would cancel the credit card and get a new one.close out your bank account and and have them put you on a new account. what i worry about is your ssn. if they have that, there isnt much you can do about it, but they could steal your identiy and cause you a lot of problems

you should get http://www.creditexpert.com. I've been using that for a while and it's great. Just keep checking your credit and see if they're using your address for other purposes…like you said, opening new accounts and stuff. When you see something on your credit report, there's a button that says dispute and you can fight whatever it is they do. I'm sorry that this happened to you, but you need to be more careful when opening any kind of spam e-mail. Real companies would NEVER ask you for your social security number or personal info.
