I had “Antivirus XP 2008″, deleted it, but my computer is still slow as heck.?

September 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I used Avast ver. 4, SUPER Anti-spyware, Spybot S&D, and Malwarebytes free scanners on safe mode and totally obliterated the virus, not a single thing is left on any of the scanners.
I trust these programs so I am pretty sure there is no more virus and the like on my computer.

The problem now, is my computer is slow. Not just slow, but REALLY slow. Like 20 mins for my comp to load up the start screen and all apps on startup, when originally it took like maybe 2. Took me 20 seconds for it to even register that I clicked Firefox just now.

Though there is no virus or the like, they must have done something, and I am wondering what they could have done or how I can fix it.

On a side note, when in safe-mode it loads everything as it did before I got the virus. Not sure if that’s obvious or helpful.

if reinstalling the os is not an option, then do a repair install.
