yeah it could be cause norton is a very heavy anti-virus and is not very good. i would upgrade to 1G RAM since RAM is really cheap now a day. also i personally recommend NOD32 is is very light and the best protection out for virus and spyware

You have 2 huge problems. Internet explorer is your biggest one and Norton is your second biggest one. You should be using Firefox, wich is almost the same but a lot more safe for your computer. Next, Norton is a CPU hog, which can be eliminated by using Firefox. And third, You really need more ram. Good Luck.

First of all, Nortan will certainly slow your pc down. Especially if you are only running 256MB of RAM. I recommend you go buy some memory for the pc, it's not even expensive anymore. You will see big differences in performance. Also, What is the processor speed??? If you have a slow processor, that to can effect you pc..

Computer technician here…..Yes, adding more memory to it will increase the speed some. You might also want to look into updating your CPU chip as well and it will also help increase the speed. Hope this helps.

1) The first think you need to do is uninstall Norton. Years ago Norton was one of the best Anti-Virus programs around but since then their AV software has gone downhill. It will slow your computer down and hog computer resources. If you don't feel comfortable running a computer without anti-virus software, then you can use AVGs free anti-virus software.
2)Try downloading and using firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Installing Firefox doesn't remove IE, it just gives you another choice of web browser.
3)You are running low on memory. You can pickup a new memory stick from places like Best Buy or Circuit City. Write down all your hardware information that you can find before you go to the store so that they will be able to match you up with the correct memory.

thats a very small amount of RAM ,,, very small,, i wouldn't be surprised if certain applications just didn't work on ur PC from memory lack,, so upgrade to 1Gb definately to run anything from norton,, (nortons sucks royally by the way) it's not the fast internet connection u have ur memory is the bottleneck,,, as fast as the network ur not processing any of that data that fast it's all waiting on that 256Mb of memory =)
