I have a dell dimension 9100 that has a missing windows root system32 hal.dll file.?

Since I got the error I cannot get it to boot from anywhere. I have the resource disk that comes with the dell when purchased in 05 that has the operating system on it. I am running windows xp and I cant get it to run. Please help me….

      It's time to reformat. Use the recovery disk, but you might have to get someone's help first to back up all your files

      Yup, what the dude above me said, time to reformat. Just pop in that disk, and reinstall windows. BACK UP DOSE FILES lol.

      back up all the files you want to keep first, by slaving your hard drive to another pc.

      Your going have to reinstall XP unfortunatly. That will restore the missing files, but you will lose all your documents, programs etc…

      erm how do you back up the files if the comp dont work you cant access them lol
