Ok, a program was secretly installed on my laptop, you know one of those virus programs that looks like an official Windows virus removal program. I tried to uninstall the darn thing, only to have it appear again after I restarted my laptop. I tried to uninstalll from the add/removal program list, but heck it now comes up with one of those window error messages and ask to send an error report. I tried system restore, but system restore only went back 30 mins the amount of time I spent trying to remove the program. I tried using my factory recovery CD, but when using the CD as boot, the screen just stays black with a white index blinking. Tried downloading credible anti-spyware/virus programs from the net, but the spyware program has the links going to different website the the ones i wanted to go to. I’m at my wits end, If anybody out there has some kind of suggestions, or anything please let me know.

Spybot S&D or Spyware Terminator are both freeware that should get the job done.

ok something like this happened on my computer and they are a bitch to get rid of, spent like 4 hours on the phone with some guy from india. go to the run command and type in “regedit” (minus the “” of course). if the unwanted program has a name then go to edit-find- then type the name of hte program in. Delete all files that have the name on it and after u delete one file go to edit-find next- or press f3. You might want to uninstall it, then try this as well. otherwise u have tried everything else that i can think of. if it comes to it u might have to spring for a trip to bestbuy or another computer store to get it looked at, they can usually help.
hope u get rid of it cuz they are so annoying!!!

Try a free online virus scan
http://security.symantec.com
Use in safe mode (usually by pressing the F5 or F8 keyboard key on top) when you turn on the laptop. I used it to find out what was the problem, but you really should have an anti-virus (updated yearly). They are about $40-$70.
