i recenlty downloaded avg and superantispyware for the computer. i also had spybot s&d.
After i had scanned with each one the super anti-spyware and the avg both said i had a trojan and possibley a worm.
I would like to know how safe my computer is with secuirty.
will information such as my credit card but easily accessed. i dont do banks or anything or that sort
i just want to know if my creditcard number and personal information was safe.
Or is it better to just resetting the computer?
and if i should how would i go about that?
-Thanks

Ok, well first off. Your computer is should be adequately safe (and I use that term lightly) with the programs you have now… Now when you download something off the internet their is a chance it could contain a virus, their is a chance that your anti-virus may not be of picked it up do to the vulnerabilities of your computer. Now AVG and spybot do a good job of picking up infected data and getting rid of it. You wouldn't believe what not having an anti-virus could do. Today at work we picked up a computer that wouldn't even turn on. It would blue screen any time and took 20 minutes to start up BART (A bootable command line anti-virus from Avast) and then it would crash. So I removed the drive and scanned it with AVG 8.0 Free (what you have) and yielded an infection count of around 139,000. Yes, that is not a typo, 139,000, a record. Just because this person spent years without an anti-virus and didn't care for protection and downloaded whatever he wanted of of bit torrent. Even WITH AVG, and etc your still in not COMPLETELY protected. The reason why? Because NOBODY is completely protected. Not the IRS not the USA government not even your bank is protected from threats and hackers that want to still your information. It's happened before very recently and it happens everyday. You may not believe me but this is all the truth. Running the scans of AVG and Spybot S&D are what you should be doing regularly and whenever you think you have an infection. Your information should be fine but it only takes 1 virus, and the next thing you know everything's infected.
