i have a TROJAN QUESTION, is this typical????

June 26th, 2008 · 4 Comments

i have had far more luck finding these nasty mothers with anti spyware programs rather anti virus programs which i thought were supposed ot be better at it.

example: my brother in law had 118 trojans on his pc, spyware terminator, superantispyware, a squared free, and avorax couldn't get all of them, they got a few but not all, finally he down loaded spybot which got rid of 108 of them.

on the other hand, an old pc of mine had 37 trojans, all those other programs found them but spy bot couldn't find any.

in both cases our anti virus apps couldn't find zilch.

i use avira which i say is the best free anti virus
he uses AVG which i think is overrated crap.

is this typical? do you usually have more luck finding trojans with antispy or what?

some info would be very helpful.

      *** The problems from ridding your PC from 'Trojans' is (One they hide in 'System Restore') and this…

      * Its not going to let you delete Trojan because the program is running at system start up..you must turn off your system restore, then start you computer in safe mode so the program isn't running, then it will let you delete this virus with no problems.

      * Windows Safe Mode is a way to boot up the Windows operating system in order to let you troubleshoot or run administrative and diagnostic tasks. When it is booted into Safe Mode the operating system only loads the minimum software that is required for the operating system to work. Only basic video drivers are loaded so your programs may look different than normal.

      * First turn off System Restore…

      * Steps to turn off System Restore…

      1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

      2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.

      3. Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.

      4. Click OK.

      5. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:
      You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer. "Do you want to turn off System Restore?
      After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes". YES.

      * Operation:

      * Restart your computer.
      Immediately after "Starting Windows…" information is displayed, press the F8 key on your keyboard.
      Select the Safe Mode option from the menu using the arrow keys.

      * Steps to turn on System Restore…

      2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.

      * After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.

      * All Done!

      **** I have tried a lot of freeware and commercial products. The bottom line is, I haven't found any products that can remove or protect you from all virus Trojans etc. That being said…

      * I like FREE… 'Avast Antivirus Home Edition' (www.avast.com) It also comes with anti-spyware & anti-rootkit protection for Windows, which are typically available only in the paid versions of many antivirus products. It has a boot time scanner. This important feature allows a user to instigate scanning before a virus is activated, in the case that a virus is suspected to be active on your computer already.

      most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

      i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

      besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

      download firefox for free, Just have a try:

      Good Luck, Best Wishes!!!
