I have an extremely slow computer…what is the MOST lightweight/resource preserving media player I can get?

October 12th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I’ve been trying to find a good media player for a while. Windows Media Player displays a choppy video, Media Player Classic de-syncs the video, and Winamp plays it very choppy.

What is the fastest media player? I mean like a media player that will practically run on NOTHING. At least so it can run on an 800MHz processor with 384MB of RAM.

Thanks in advance!

      VLC player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

      K-lite mega codec pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

These two players play almost everything. Just pick one or the other. They also consume very little resources.

I would look at upgrading your ram to at least a gig

look for portable apps, they are full applications that are converted to a small file size and use no resources you can them with you on a thumb drive and run them anywhere without ever installing them you should be able to find a media player
