now that i installed avast am i safe to use lime wire or frost wire. right?

no well yes in theory but limewire has real nasty viruses that any scanner can miss
make sure you have a good firewall and a great secondary scanner

You could consider yourself safe, but be warned: Some of the viruses that come through those file-sharing programs are made to copy themselves faster than anti-virus programs, such as avast!, and eventually those programs bog down your computer anyway.
Of course I used to use LimeWire and never had problems that were TOO severe.
As another user said, you may want to get another security program, and you also want to be sure that these two programs will work well together and not fight against the other.
