Right click on the AVG icon in your taskbar. Press 'Open user interface'. Double click on the email scanner icon. See if anything there looks wrong. If not, right click on the AVG icon and press 'Update now'. If that still doesn't fix it, try doing a virus scan. If all else fails, re-install AVG. Also, if you're using a pirated version of AVG, it might cause problems. I just use the free version, which is just as good.

it is depend on which email program you used if you used outlook, or microsoft outlook then no manull settings is required but if you use other then you must be set a manuall confugaration for email scanner in your program. it is also required to update your virus database for keep running your email scanner.

Yes, it's an AVG problem that many users are experiencing.
I would only use AVG and always recommended it to others and installed it on many machines, but V8 has so many problems that i abandoned it and now use Avast, which also has a higher detection rate and more functionality with lower resource usage.

I have to agree with cotojo.
AVG has always been great but version 8 is a pain.
Try avast.
You may have your email scanner turned off.
I do because it uses up resources unnecessarily.
Viruses in emails need to be opened and I don't open attachments in emails unless I am 100% sure who it is from and scan it first anyway.
Right click the AVG icon and open the user interface to check out your settings.

simple fix,your email scanner is turned off,click on email scanner then in the lower left hand corner where it says
settings check all 3 boxs then click on save,that will turn
the email scanner back on,you should be ok now.i have avg8.
