I have disabled my security software. Turned windows firewall off. Added the UDP and TCP ports that are in the software. I have tried Limewire, Frostwire, Citrixwire, and Ares. I have tried to use the information given in other questions by other users and it still isn't working. Limewire used to work great but with the new downloads I have found that it won't connect. If some one knows what the next step should be I would appreciate it.

Just reinstall it >
Uninstall Limewire.
Uninstall Java.
Install Java first from http://www.java.com
Install Limewire
Leave all the security things alone, Limewire will detect a firewall and allow usage.
Scan downloads before opening.

Limewire used to work and connect just fine. Then it stopped working on both my laptops!!!
The fix: Uninstall your version of Limewire using Add/Remove Programs - do not mess with the registry or delete files or folders other than what the uninstall automatically does. Now download the free version of the latest Limewire. Next, uninstall the new version just like you uninstalled the old version! Re-install your version of Limewire (the one that stopped working). Now your original version will connect again! I had tried everythying else - uninstall, remove all registry entries, reinstall…. Nothing worked. Something in the new version (even the free basic version) must change something in the registry, since after installing it, the old version works again.
