So about 4 days ago, Sypware.Cyberlog-x infected my computer, creating false ads that pop up every few of minutes. I do not see major problems, except the occasional Adware/Trojan stuff that Symantec AntiVirus finds and usually removes. Yesterday, Symantec detected Trojans inside my external harddrive (F:) and the status was "cleaned by deletion." The Trojans were actually located in the "system volume" and some files on the external HD. Although Symantec says the Trojans were deleted and although I have removed any suspicious software or files from my external HD, I am paranoid that there still may be Trojans on my external HD. That is my main concern right now, because I want to connect my external HD to my good computer.
I have scanned my external HD with Ad-Aware iin safe mode and I will scan it with Ewido but is there still a chance that my external HD is still infected even though my scans come up clean? What should I do, and should I plug it in to my good computer?
Sam: Alright thanks, I'll try AVG. It IS free, correct?
Hermann: I'll try that as well.
Moto: I may have moved word documents and notepad files into my external from my desktop, but those documents were for school and shouldn't be infected with viruses and spyware, right? So let's say there IS a virus on my external harddrive and I plug it in to my good computer, could my good computer get infected with what ever is on the external, or does it have to be the physical process of moving files from one drive to another in order to transfer viruses or spyware?

Unless you copied infected files to your external hard drive, there should be no way for a trojan to just "sneak" onto it. Even having it hooked up to your computer while doing other things, should not allow it to become infected. Sounds like a Symantec error of categorizing normal, fine things as viruses and spyware

Plug it in ,if you trust Norton. I would also scan it with Antivir from Avira-its free and good.

download avg 7.5 (google it) snd scan your HDD with that. AVG is the best antivirus so you can be sure it is not infected if AVG give the all clear.
Hope this helps

I think that everything that you have already done is enough. All you needed to do were to scan before transfering to the other computer with your antivirus program, and your spyware program. Have you tried superantispyware before? This is a very good spyware program that I always recomend because it does a very good job of protection and detecting and it is free, if not then you should think about scanning your old computer using it before you make any changes. her is the link.
