i have some sort of hidden firewall or something that won't allow me to update any programs?

July 8th, 2008 · 2 Comments

i recently was having computer problems so i had to do a soft reboot (reinstalled the OS while keeping all of my files) after doing that and running multiple spyware programs that my computer is finally stable. now i have another problem. it started when i couldn't get outlook to connect to my email. then i tried it in thunderbird because i just installed that and i thought maybe there were problems from the old install. unfortunately thunderbird didn't work either. i have been trying to update all of my anit-spyware/antivirus software but none of them are able to connect to the internet to download the files. it appears as if i am behind some type of firewall or something blocking those things but i can't figure it out. could they all be trying to use the same port and that port is blocked?? i appreciate any help

Are you using your computer to ask this question? because sounds strange that you browser can connect but you cannot update your software or check outlook.

Check your firewall settings add Outlook to your trusted applications list.
