If you spent money on that software I sincerely hope that it had a mail-in rebate making it free because it is almost as bad as not having any protection whatsoever. I know many CA employees that won't even bother with the software…it is just not up to par it suffers from buggy installs (often), doesn't update often enough, crappy virus/spyware database, there isn't a single good thing I can think of in reference to that software except it gives many a false sense of security (which really isn't a good thing…).
Bitdefender, Kaspersky Internet Security, Avast Internet Security, NoD32 Internet Security are all far, far, far better options.
These will also save you from downloaded a plethora of programs that are going to soak up your memory like a sponge and won't automatically update, scan, etc.

Did you have any other Anti-Virus program before installing CA anti-Virus? if so make sure you removed all the files from that program. If that’s not it then try uninstalling CA then reinstall it or if it has a repair option then use it. You can also try uninstalling it then reinstalling it in safe mode with networking.
