and before i install the program it asks for me to choose an application to open the link with. Here is what i am confused on, what application? I tried Modzilla and that didnt work. Any ideas on what to do?

Think you have not downloaded .exe file which actually installs the software (usually its Setup.exe).
Make sure you have installed the setup for this software. Some times it happens that the file (not setup file for installing the software) is downloaded which will inturn download the software thru an 3rd party downloader (such as uTorrent or BitTorrent). In this case you need to have either uTorrent or Bittorrent to download this software. Mostly you have downloaded the Mirror File for this software

I’m not sure what is it that you have downloaded. It should have been an exe file for which windows should not have asked you the Qn. Did you download it after renaming it? If so Rt click & see what options you get. If one of them is open, choose that. If not rt click & choose rename or properties & rename the file with the extn EXE. If that doesn’t solve your problem you may have an incomplete download. try downloading the file again.

Check the file extension of that file you downloaded.
Is it a zipped file? If so, then you need a archive “unzipper” like Winzip. By the way, Windows comes with one too. Just right click on the file and it says “extract.”
