I just recently downloaded Kaspersky antivirus (the free trial), and it says that I need to remove some previous antivirus programs for it to complete. However, I'm sure that I've already removed these programs ( AVG and Avast!) ….how would I be able to fix this probem / 'remove' the programs? (p.s. - I already checked the add/remove programs)

you also need antispyware, try another one such as malwarebytes or spyware doctor.
This should tell you all you need to know about this issue

Sometimes add/ remove programs can leave something behind. Try the Avast/ AVG websites for a removal tool to completely uninstall. Remember to restart before installing Kaspersky.

You had 2 antivirus at the same time?
Idiot.
Reboot. Normally after the uninstall of an antivirus it requires and reboot.
And NEVER put 2 antivirus on the same computer. It makes it very unstable.
