      Go to start->run->services.msc
      Go to your AVG Service and doubleclick and start the service and set it to automatically.

      There must be an issue with the specific installation you downloaded.

      Download version 8, it’s newer and bug free:

      Looks like the user account was not able to start the service.
      Go to Start->Run-> Type “services.msc” -> Search for the AVG Services -> Right click on that, and select “Start”

      If the package was installed, and the system was not able to start the services, you can find it in this way.

      Or, better to remove/uninstall the AVG. Log off, and login again as Administrator, then try to install.

      Also, go to event viwer and serach for any clues. You might get an event id, search the solutiosn for that event ID.

      But i hope re-installing will solve the issue.

      Sounds like it might be a bad installation. Try reinstalling, it may work.

      Install avast instead as it has a higher detection rate… avg rates pretty poorly,

      Also i think avg is now up to version 8.

      So again, ditch avg and go for avast

      also spyware blaster from javacools and
      spybot search and destroy.
