hello
i came to turn my computer on this morning and i had a message come up to say that windows could not start and does it want me to run the start up repair tool.
i clicked yes and it was trying to repair whatever was wrong but it said that it could not fix it automatically so could it search the web for a solution, again i clicked yes and it came up with nothing, now every time i restart my computer i get the same message saying windows would not start up and i cannot get past that screen, ive also tried booting up in safe mode but its still the same, however i didnt try all the other options such as safe mode with networking etc as i did not have time.
my question is this, im planning on re-formatting the hard drive to sort all this out but before i do this is there any way i can get into my computer so that i can put a few of my things onto a flash drive to save me time later when it comes to putting it back onto the computer? even getting onto the desktop would really help, any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Hi there
.as its booting try hitting F2 or F8 if you get in go to last know good configuration and click enter this may restore your system
.
Put your Vista disc in and restart If you have no luck restart and hit F 12 as you boot and change to boot from disc.start install and except the repair option. It may repair your system and leave your files intact.
