I've tried to uninstall previous anti virus programmes and then install this one and each time this message comes up, "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personell for assistance."
We have a windows XP here and this is bugging us. We recently (I think, got rid of some horrible viruses (personal antispyware) using Malware anti malware stuff but short of formatting the computer we're stumped. Can anyone help?

Kaspersky 2009 will only go onto a PC which has NO AV on it, what AV was you using before ?
AV = anti virus programmes
If it was Norton you need to run Norton removal tool.
If it was AVG you need to run AVG removal tool.

When you cannot find any other antivirus, try do a scan with a registry cleaner.
When you do not have one, you can install this one, It is free and very safe te use even for the less experienced computer users.
