I recently had Antivirus XP 2008 on my computer. I removed it but still have a trojan virus please help?

July 25th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I used Malwarebytes to remove Antivirus XP 2008 and than ran a full scan from Microsoft.live.com and found 7 more viruses that I subsequently removed. The virus came from me unzipping stupidly I might add a spam attachment from a faux UPS e-mail. I have used the manual removal as I stated previously and even cross referenced the list of files that the website says Antivirus XP uses to confirm that they are no longer on my hard drive. I ran Malwarebytes again but found nothing. My server says there is still an infection but I am having no luck finding it. Please if anyone has some advice let me know. It is bogging down my computer and my work server so I am public enemy number 1 in the office.

I couldnt tell you exactly how to do this.. but I had the same problem with the windows antivirus program.. it was stating I had a trojan virus and I never really did. It was some trick into buying a program to remove it. Awful isnt it? I would use Avast as your virus protection and you need to remove the windows xp antivirus program.. Found out how to do it on answers.. check the posted answers in resolved questions, I'm sure it will turn up. And it was simple!

To FIX the problem, go to control panel, internet options, security, then click on the security tab. In the line that you see, if the MALWAREis not there, then youhave two choices, you can run the problem, but as soon as it starts it's sxan, PULL THE WIRE ( ethernet ).Now go to the security tab and click on it. You will now see the OFFENDING program. Click on K, and you are done. The other way you have to manually input the info.
