now i get a warning saying 'google earth has been unable to establish contact with the server to activate the session'… then it asks me if i want to 'initiate a diagnostic test to check the configuration of whatever it is that's impeding google earth to work' (i'm paraphrasing as it's all in spanish!).
so i say yes and it simply comes up with 'the results of the test are on the browser, please restart google earth and try again'…
i do this and get the same messages again.
i've a feeling it's got something to do with the free avg 8.0 firewall i installed recently… any ideas how i can get google earh working again?

…….yes it is something to do with the AVG 8.0. So you have to uninstall AVG in control panel - add/remove program and restart your computer…..if the Google Earth is working fine do not install the AVG anymore……stick to AVG 7.5 Anti virus……you dont need the firewall for more security……

All you have to do is disable the firewall when you are using Google Earth then start it back up when you are through.

I don't use AVG but would be willing to bet there is an option to allow a process to connect. Check all the options on the toolbar to try and find it.

Well i guess you have to modify the firewall settings. In the settings for the firewall add googlearth(the .exe file,it should be in the installation folder) as an allowed program.
I don't use AVG but i guess there should be some setting similar to this.
