I paid for it online this morning ($39.99) but never got a confirmation email or a product number.
The Norton window on my desktop says “computer secure” but it also says “need to renew” and there’s a big red “x” indicating I need to renew.
WTF?? I tried to get help through the Norton online live chat but of course it is not working right now. I don’t want to call them and sit on hold for a half hour. If anyone knows what causes this problem or how to solve it, I’m all ears.

There are some troubleshooting guides at the Norton home page. I had this same problem and had a heck of a time getting it fixed. I don't know why Norton doesn't have a big 800 number right at the start of the home page you can call for help. It's almost like when they get our Money heck with us. There was something about synchronizing your computer and the new Norton version you have with the Norton Servers. Something like that. Oh, and when you do get a product number and product key, keep them stored away safe. I found that when I had to renew the next year, they asked for those numbers. I finally did get the new version working right, so don't give up.
