I have a multi machine licence for norton 2008, but cannot get it to load on my main PC. It seems to be infected by a programme that emulates virus protection and spyware protection software warnings, telling me that my machine is infected and that I should download antispyware software. This virus is preventing me from loading the Norton programme, which I want to do to get rid of the virus. any ideas. In an emulation of the red 'Security System Warning' window, it says that 'Abebot' has been detected.

Run a scan with some other software. AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Spybot, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

This is a from of spyware and it is trying to get you to download and install their program "Don't do it". Before you install Nortons, run your spyware program to get rid of the syware first, if you don't have a spyware program installed then here is a link that you can click on to install this spyware program that I highly recomend and so do others here, this is a very good spyware program and it is Free. (http://www.superantispyware.com) So give this program a try first then after the scan finish then try reinstalling Nortons. Good Luck
